Bigfoot and Scout have been through this before. Get involved with strangers or no? Each of them has risked contact (for various reasons) and the results have been less than optimal.
The correct response to most of these situations is stay away from people. Honestly, I might just be working out my social anxiety on the page. I don’t have to leave the cave today, thank goodness, but this weekend’s a different story:
3 Rivers Comicon This Weekend
I’ll be at 3 Rivers Comicon this Saturday (11 to 7) and Sunday (10 to 5) just chillin’ behind my table, selling books, doing sketches, blippity-bleep-blop, you know the drill. I’ll probably be doing quick $5 sketch cards for the kids (and grown up kids).
If you’re at the event, swing by and say hi. And if you can’t make it, I’ll be posting images from the con all weekend on my Instagram and Twitter feeds, so feel free to follow along.
Mothman Spotted In Chicago
Did you know that in 2017 there were 55 Mothman sightings in the skies above Chicago? Quite a distance (as the moth flies) from Point Pleasant, Virginia where the first sightings were reported in 1966. Maybe he’s really into deep dish pizza. Who knows? A witness in this article said the creature looked like a pterodactyl. And this post has some alternate artistic interpretations of the monster. Whatever it looks like, good to see Mothman’s still going strong some 50 years after his first appearance.
That’s all this week! Remember to stay alert! You never know where the monsters are lurking! -v

If we listened to Scout there’d never be a story. BRING IT ON!
In the last short, Scout’s big idea to beg for food from the campers ended up in chaos. He’s probably aiming to err on the side of caution this time.
….plus, there’s a monster. : ) -v
Yeah, and no weenies in it this time.
aw man, this is such a good series. I love the little details, the creases in the pages, and the color scheme. It’s really great.
The worn pages and black/white colors are a lot of fun to play around with. When I look at the finished page it really does remind me of those creepy horror comics I used to read as a kid. Glad you’re enjoying it, Autumn! -v
Give it up, Scout. You just gotta let Big be Big. At least it’ll never be boring.
About all those sighting of Mothman. Could it be a lot of other creatures that folks have never seen before, and they assume it’s the Mothman? Wonder how many types of ‘so called’ monsters there are out there… 😏
I watched a documentary a while ago that made a pretty convincing case for Mothman being some kind of large owl. I suppose it’s possible. I think there’s a chance we know less about the natural world than we think we do, so we attribute these sightings to the supernatural. Of course, perhaps there really is a giant Mothman. Far be it from me to undermine an annual festival 😉
And yeah, Big’s gonna be Big. The rest of us will just go along for the ride. -v
I’ll take that as a hint he’s headed toward the wheel of that truck.
I try not to give hints (mostly because I’m not sure what happens next myself most of the time). -v
