Untold Tales of Bigfoot: Devil In The Details

<<<First   |  <<First “Devil”  |  <Previous |   Next>

Clearly these guys are bad news. Bigfoot’s no dummy, though. He knows when he’s being baited. And unless theses mooks have cheeseburgers, I don’t think Scout’s getting any closer either.

Fun On Free Comic Book Day

I had a great time at Phantom of the Attic, Oakland this past Saturday. Big thanks to store manager, Jeff, who always makes his customers and visiting cartoonists feel welcome. I met a lot of genuinely nice people who came out to the shop and am always amazed and humbled by the nice things they have to say about this comic. You guys are great.

I was there all day sketching and shared the table with some amazing cartoonists: John Henry Doran, a young artist who donates his proceeds to battle cystic fibrosis, Jim Rugg, creator of Street Angel, and Dave Wachter, artist on Godzilla, Guns of Shadow Valley, and current artist on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. All of these guys are top notch artists and generous people. For example…

Dave Wachter Drew Me A Bigfoot!

If you’ve ever seen Dave’s work, you know how skilled he is. With just a brush or two and a little ink, he lays down amazing linework and inkwash illustrations that leap off the page. I didn’t ask him to do it, but he spent some time “warming up” by drawing his version of my bigfoot character. Then he just gave it to me. I’m speechless. I love this, and I’ve already added it to the fan art gallery.  (I hope Dave doesn’t mind I digitally colored a version with swatches from my UToB palette for fun) If you dig brilliantly rendered artwork, please check out more of Dave’s work. Anyway, speaking of Bigfoot…

Bigfoot Tracks Spotted

Bigfoot_print

A man who’s been on the trail of Bigfoot for 20 years has documented giant footprints on an abandoned mattress in the US wilderness. You can’t make this stuff up! Well, you could — but who’d believe you? Well, actually, a lot of people would believe you, it turns out. Anyway, I don’t know what to believe, but read the article and decide for yourself!

And that’s it for this week, folks! As always, thanks for tuning in! -v

  1. Wow, this turned downright EVIL! I’m riveted!

    • Yeah, it’s a new type of predator for Bigfoot. A little darker. A good fit for this black-and-white short. -v

  2. I wasn’t sure where this was going but the big reveal of the previous page took car of that! It’s great to be reading another Scout and Big Foot adventure, I wonder what they’ll do next…

    • A few people have asked if I’d ever bring ‘other monsters’ into the story, Wouter. I figured this spooky short would be a good opportunity to try that out. Glad you’re enjoying it! -v

  3. If he’s already flown, a cage must be terrible by itself; let alone a cattle prod.

Wow! Sounds like you had a lot of fun!

    • I know why the caged devil bleats, to paraphrase something. Yeah, part of me wonders how these two stooges were able to best a formidable creature like that. Maybe cruelty gave them an edge.

And yeah, it was a fun Saturday! It’s hard to call it “work” when you’re sitting in a comic store all day listening to music, drawing pictures, and meeting friendly people. -v
