Untold Tales of Bigfoot : A Different Perspective

<<First   |  <Previous |   Next>

Hey everybody! Long time, no see! I’ve been working on a lot of different projects — not the least of which is editing the pages of Book One  — but I managed to sneak some time in between my other jobs to do this one-page UTOB comic. So good to see Bigfoot and Scout together again.

Slight change of pace

A Different Perspective treads on slightly new ground for UTOB. For one thing, I inked it in MangaStudio, which is new to my comics workflow. I like it. Gonna keep using it.

Another thing is, as you can see, I’ve relaxed my self-imposed rules about flat, hard-edged color. I loosened up and colored some of this the same way I’d color any other, non-comic illustrations. I like it. Gonna keep doing it.

Finally, though this page could certainly be part of a larger, long-form story, it’s also designed to be a stand-alone piece. Theory is, if I get tied up with other stuff, at least each page will have a beginning and and end and you won’t be left hanging. I like it. Gonna (try to) keep doing it.

What else is going on?

Beyond that, I’ve been sending Book One around, seeing if there are any brilliant, visionary publishers who’d like to take a chance on it. While I play the waiting game for those responses, I’ve been going over the old pages, fixing color, tightening up dialogue and, yes, adding pages. So, whether this book gets printed by a publishing house or a Kickstarter campaign, you’ll all have some new pages of story and art to look at.

And for everyone who’s been asking, yeah, I’ve been hammering out the script for Book Two. I planned it while I was working on Book One:Crossing Paths, and yes, the story will continue. It may be a while, but I learned a lot doing that first story, week by week, and I think the next one will be even better.

Keep your eyes peeled for some announcements coming up soon about merchandise, prints and other fun news. Don’t forget to share Untold Tales of Bigfoot with anyone you think might enjoy it. Until then, thanks for your loyalty and support. -v

  1. yay, nice to see da boyz, and excellent news for book 2, can’t wait!

    • Oh, boy, it was a blast working on a page of those guys again. Wish I could do that full-time. So many stories to tell…

      Thanks for coming by! -v

  2. So good to see these guys again! Can’t get enough of Scout’s complaining.

    • People tell me it’s cute when Scout does it, but not so much when I do it. : ) I’ll have to live vicariously through Scout. Thanks for visiting with the guys today! -v

  3. All the best in the waiting game, I’m sure you’ll make it!

  4. I really like the changes in your technique! I’ve heard a lot about Manga Studio lately.

Any advice on submitting books to publishers? Been thinking about doing that myself.

    • Yeah, MangaStudio’s really fun to ink with. Very smooth, very natural. Still not ecstatic about the color engine, but the painting tools that lay down that color are amazing. As for publishers, I don’t really have any advice other than to see who’s accepting manuscripts and give ’em a shot. Though I’ve not used one myself, I’d say the advice that I’m offered most about publishers is get yourself an agent. Do with that what you will. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Great to hear another installment of UTOB is in the works! 😀

    • I know, Bill! I wish I could work on it full time, but I’ve been swamped with some other work. Stupid bills, always needing to be paid. But I am trying to squeeze in as much time as I can working on the new story (and polishing up the first story). So, with any hope, it’ll be worth the wait. Thanks for your support! -v
