You don’t just wrestle with a mountain lion and walk away without a scratch. The important thing is that you walk away. So Bigfoot’s gonna get in a little recuperation time while Scout takes over guard duty. It may not be optimal, but it’s the best they’ve got right now.
I’m still running the Sketch Card Giveaway. If you want to get your hands on the Running Bigfoot card, just leave a comment under this week’s page. Just say something nice because Scout’s nerves are on edge.
Finally, I felt a little empty this week because I didn’t have any fan-art to post (curse you, other cartoonists with busy schedules!) but then BAM, out of the blue, the night before my update, I received a wonderful Bigfoot/Scout illustration from Esa Holopainen in Finland! FINLAND!! I can’t tell you how long I looked at this lovingly-crafted illustration with a giant smile on my face, but it was a pretty long time because my face hurt afterward. Esa’s illustration exudes this old-world feel that is just magical to me. I love this. And, in fact, Esa told me he’s never done any fan-art before but he really likes my Bigfoot. I am truly honored! If you’re a fan of Esa’s take on Bigfoot and Scout, feel free to leave a comment for him below. I’m sure it’ll be appreciated. And if you’d like to see more of his work, here’s the english-language version of his website! -v

Thanks for stopping by. I’d love to hear what you think of the comic. Just remember, Untold Tales of Bigfoot is for grown-ups and kids. So let’s keep the comments appropriate.

Well, if that misadventure doesn’t seal their friendship, I don’t know what will! That last panel is gold!
And what an amazing piece of fan art! Well done, Esa! Vince, you sure have some cool fans, I’m jealous!
Honestly, Wouter, I have some really nice and fantastically talented readers (but you know that ’cause you’re one of them!) and they make doing this twice as fun.
As for Scout’s guard dog duties, let’s just hope the sound of a snoring Bigfoot keeps the other critters away for the night. -v
Hopefully Bigfoot will be feeling better after a little rest.
You’re right. Maybe just stopping to catch his breath will do wonders for the big guy. He got a bit scratched up, but I think he’s pretty tough and he’ll heal quickly. He’s probably thankful we have a full week of r&r before the next update! :^) -v
Love Untold Tales and really LOVE the fanart!! so cute!
Thanks, Jamie. And yes, Esa’s fan art came completely out of the blue in my email and really made my night. Great stuff. I’ve already added it to the fan art gallery. -v
Nice ending/beginning.
Thank you, Beth. It feels like Bigfoot’s act of heroism lent Scout just a little courage for a while. Between that and his healthy reserve of false bravado they should make it through the night ok. Thanks for stopping by! -v
I just love how Scout has come to the aid of his hero in that last panel. I just love your approach to story telling and seeing Scout’s character develop to a closer kinship with Bigfoot is really great.
Thanks a lot, Todd. It’s a slow process and, I’m sure, maddening for some who have to wait a week between pages. But I am working my way through the character arcs and people seem to be responding positively. Hopefully, if we ever go to print, the characterization and story arcs will flow more smoothly without the 7-day pauses in between. Thanks! -v
I’d need a nap after a fight like that, too! Also, great fan art, Esa! I’m really glad all the fan art is on one, easy-to-find gallery page. I love it!
Yeah, sometimes I need a nap after just drawing for a few hours. So Bigfoot’s nap after the mountain lion thing is totally understandable. Glad you’re enjoying the fan art. Sometimes I just flip through that gallery and ogle all the amazing art I’ve received from all those really nice, really talented people. Hope I get more! -v
The adrenaline dump and anarobic muscle use would leave one breathless and used up feeling. That fight should have used up most of the adrenaline. Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful.
Right, Gul. Bigfoot might’ve made it look a little easier than it would’ve been for you and me, but wrestling a mountain lion to submission without trying to hurt it too much took more strength and adrenaline than we could imagine. Plus he took a few scrapes, cuts and bites. He’s gonna need to just sleep that one off for a bit. Thanks for reading! -v
Saving the day can leave you pretty wiped out, but it looks really good when it’s crossed off of the “to do” list!
You got that right, Jerry! If I could put “Save The Day” on my to-do list every day AND actually accomplish it, I bet I’d sleep like a baby at night. Thanks for your insight! -v
Thanks for Your kind comments and special thanks to Vince for spreading word. It gave me a big boost for in my work.

I love to see Scout taking big role in the last panel: “Gonna be a long night”
Esa! Everyone loves your Bigfoot fan art. Besides the positive comments here, I had a few very enthusiastic conversations about it offline with other people. You really hit it out of the park. I’m happy that some of the people that saw your work here visited your site to see the other wonderful work you do. Thanks so much for helping to make this week’s Bigfoot extra special! Oh, and I’m glad you’re enjoying the story too! Stop back! -v
